about
Updates should be boring.
You shouldn’t have to think about which of your apps are out of date, or whether the download in front of you is the real one. Current exists so you don’t.
Most Mac apps update themselves, each in its own way, on its own schedule, with its own prompt. Some don’t update at all until you go looking. Command-line tools wait until you remember to run the right command. Current puts all of it in one list and makes every update the same: one click, checked first.
What it’s built on
- 01
Check before changing anything
An update is downloaded, verified and checked against your Mac before a single file of the old version moves. If something fails, nothing changes.
- 02
Ask the source, not a database
Current reads each app’s own update feed, plus Homebrew’s public catalog, so new versions appear the day they ship.
- 03
Leave alone what you say
Skip a version and Current won’t offer it again until a newer one ships. Apps an organization manages are shown, never touched.
- 04
Pay once
No subscription and no analytics. One purchase email activates Current on one Mac, with every 1.x update included.
Who makes it
Current is made by an independent developer, the same one behind Stoic Player. It’s a small, focused app, and it will stay that way.
