How can we help?
Most answers are below. If yours isn’t, write and you’ll hear back from the person who builds Current.
Common questions
An app says “own updater only”.
Current couldn’t find an update source it can check for that app: no Sparkle or Electron feed, and no Homebrew entry that matches it. The app still updates itself the usual way, and Current keeps showing its version.
An update stopped with a signature or notarization message.
That’s Current doing its job. The download wasn’t signed by the same developer as your copy, wasn’t notarized by Apple, or didn’t match the checksum its source published, so it wasn’t installed. Your current version is untouched. Try again later; if it keeps happening, the developer may have changed how they sign their app, so email us the app’s name.
Why does it ask for my password?
Some apps are installed by an administrator, or come as installer packages. macOS asks for an administrator’s password to replace those, the same as it would if you dragged the new version in yourself. Current never sees or stores the password.
It didn’t update an app that was open.
Manual updates ask to quit the app first and reopen it afterwards. Automatic installs skip apps that are open, so you never lose unsaved work. They’ll be picked up next time.
My Homebrew or npm tools don’t show up.
Current looks for Homebrew in its usual places and for npm in your newest Node install, including nvm. Open Current’s Tools section to see what it found. If your setup lives somewhere unusual, email us where.
I’m not getting notifications.
Turn on notifications in Current’s settings, then make sure Current is allowed in System Settings → Notifications. Settings has a button that sends a test notification.
Can I use it on more than one Mac?
A license is for one Mac and is bound to the email used at purchase. If you replace your Mac, email support and we’ll help move the activation.
What email do I use to activate?
Use the same email address you entered at checkout. The license is tied to that purchase email and one Mac.
How do I get a refund?
Email within 14 days of buying and you’ll get your money back. No questions.
